Started to practise Aikido in 1975 after practising Judo for around eight years under the instruction of Henry Hoddy.

1979 started to train at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre under the instruction of Ken Broome (then 4th Dan) now 6th Dan

1982 30th July Attended the BAA summer school in Leeds passes 1st Dan (Shodan) exam. Examiners B.C. Eustace. M.P. Tracey. Dr Lee Ah Loi

1982 September. Became a member of Yawara Martial Arts Centre studied under the instruction of Dr Lee Ah Loi 7th Dan Aikido JAA, 7th Dan Jodo ZNKR, 7th Dan Iai-do ZNKR.

1982 5th September passed 1st Dan (Shodan) in Taiho-Jutsu under Sensei Brian Eustace.

1985 2nd August passed BAA 2nd Dan (Nidan) Leeds. Examiners B.C. Eustace. M.P. Tracey.

1988 27th April Attended the international Aikido Fesitval in Antwerp Belgium organised by the EAA passed 3rd Dan (San Dan) examination. Examiners Dr Lee Ah Loi, Fritz Van Gullik, Eddy Wolput. Grade registered with the Japan Aikido Association

1998 April Silver medalist Tanto Randori, Gold medalist Kata, Sports person of the year award European Aikido Championships.

1990 Bronze medalist Kata, European Aikido Championships

1991 3rd place world championships team tanto randori (Team EAA)

1992 10th October passed 4th Dan (Yondan) at Yawara Centre London. Examiners Dr Lee Ah Loi,Ken Broome, Fritz Van Gullik, Eddy Wolput. Grade registered with the Japan Aikido Association.

1997 2nd November passed 5th Dan (Go Dan) at Yawara Centre London. Examiners Dr Lee Ah Loi,Ken Broome, Fritz Van Gullik, Eddy Wolput. (Sensie Hoddy was one of the few Tomiki Aikidoka in the UK who has taken a technical examination to the level 5th Dan.)

2005 16th April presented with a 6th Dan (Rokudan) certificate at the International Martial Arts Training Weekend & Gala Presentation Palms Hotel  for service to Aikido within Zen Eikoku Tomiki Aikido Renmei . Grade Ratified with BNMAA/BASAA & the Aikido Developmet Society/BAB

1980 Started Tomiki Aikido in February, with sensei Kevin Hodgson at the  Caedomon Hall Aikido Club Leigh on Sea. Sensei Hodgson was the first student of Sensei John Spurgon who taught the Westbury Aikido Club in Barking Essex.

 

Founder member & secretary of South Woodham Aikido club.
